Cherry Blossom n Dragonflyby ^Battledress

Another Cherry Blossom cake - this set with a Dragonfly.

Lots of experimenting with techniques and textures.

Next project will be big stuff and oversized flowers.

Remember that Cherry Blossom cake comp I posted ages ago?

Well, I finally got it finished. All edible.

Hand made silicone mold and armature for the wafer paper flowers and tree branch pieces.

Been working on the "porcelain glaze" for a while. Think I got something I can work with.

I had hoped to have this as a sample at ICES in San Diego this August, but the "glaze" won't hold up that long (it hazes as it dries out), so whatever goes to the trade show will have to be brand spank'n new.

The flowers travel fantastic. My black cake made it to NRA Chicago and back surprisingly entact.
